Salvation - Decision or Election?

May 10th, 2008

The aspect of Divine Election is one subject I have grown to appreciate and understand more fully over the years. As much as I believe firmly in Evangelism and the great commission, I firmly believe that only God can save people, that He ultimately decides who He will reveal the glorious gospel to. Here’s a few questions to ponder…

Can a person decide to be saved? Is Salvation a choice based on a decision or does salvation come through a divine conversion? Can a lost soul consciously reject the gospel of Jesus Christ? Is it possible to decide to follow Jesus based on one’s own free will? OR is their a higher power at work at the very moment of inception? In other words, is our ability to comprehend, understand, receive, and believe the gospel of salvation in itself an act of God’s grace and power? If you believe we are saved by the grace of God, and you believe that, as Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him” (Matt 11:27) then you must conclude the latter. And that is what solidifies ones salvation and what holds us to Him…Grace. It is not for us to decide, it is His choice… Read the rest of this entry »

A Review of Brian McLaren’s “Everything Must Change”

May 2nd, 2008

If there was ever any wonder as to where Brian McLaren was heading with his deconstruction of Orthodox Christian Theology, this title says it all, “Everything Must Change.” This book clearly reveals the Emergent agenda, at least from McLaren’s perspective, and it clearly defines what McLaren’s “New Kind of Christianity” would look like after the deconstruction of Fundamental Christian Theology was complete.

The authors disdain for the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith as established by Read the rest of this entry »

Why We Support Christian Education

April 13th, 2008

INTRODUCTION

The most recent Ontario election served as a barometer for where our Province is at spiritually and morally. The debate on “Faith based” School funding has brought to surface a godless conspiracy against Freedom of religious expression and the constitutional right for families to choose the educational conformity of their own children. The denial of faith-based funding is discrimination against a constitutional right because it forces families of faith who cannot afford Christian education against their will, while favoring those who really don’t care how their kids are being conformed to anti-Christian secularism. Faith-based education has been vilified by Dalton McGuinty as “segregation”, and the notion that “the Public system will suffer,” is somewhat deceptive. The charge to rid the Province of Educational Institutions that promote a Christian worldview is one that can inevitably lead our Nation towards a state-run village mentality designed to conform our children to the whims of a secular driven socialist regime that operates under the guise of a school board. Whether you support Public or faith based education for your own kids is really not the issue. The issue is Read the rest of this entry »

Christians Who Don’t Evangelize

February 25th, 2008

Do you know any Christians who don’t evangelize?? Does it drive you as crazy as it drives me?! I just can’t understand how any Christian can go about their day to day lives without showing the slightest concern for the eternal welfare of others. I have Christian friends that just don’t seem to show any regard for the lost at all, ever. I know them to be Christians in every sense of the word except for that one aspect. They are loving, they know the truth, they read the word, they worship passionately, they live holy, they pray, they give generously, they read Christian books and watch Christian movies… but they don’t ever go out of their way to approach unbelievers to share the gospel at all. Not even a tract!

Now I have had all kinds of theories go through my head as to why this is, but none of them satisfy my irritation with this. I want to Read the rest of this entry »
